Description

We are pleased to announce a collaboration between the Art Guild of Louisiana and The New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts which will bring Academy instructors to Baton Rouge to provide demonstrations and hands-on instruction. The program will span January through June.

This month’s “Saturdays with the Masters” on April 18 features Zona Wainwright and Nell Tilton who will teach “Making Your Mark – Abstract Acrylic Painting Techniques”.

Other instructors for subsequent months will include Phil Sandusky and Billy Solitario.

Two abstract painting instructors at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts, Zona Wainwright and Nell Tilton, will give morning demonstrations and examples of texturing techniques as well as how to mix a myriad of colors with a very limited palette. A blind contour drawing of a photograph and converting it into an abstract painting will be also illustrated. After lunch, participating students will be able to apply all of these techniques to their work with direction from the two teachers and come away with a better understanding of how to construct an abstract painting while having the freedom to experiment and have fun with the process. It would be helpful for those students to be familiar with the medium of acrylic paints.
